Tornadoes are possible all year

 Tornado Season is officially March – June, but some of the country’s biggest tornadoes have hit in winter, which is when the risk of tornadoes is reported to be the lowest.

 Visitors may be alarmed at hearing “tornado watch”. It’s up to us to reassure people that a watch means conditions are right for a tornado to form, not that one definitely will form. We could have a tornado watch from March through August without ever having a tornado, and we wouldn’t be upset about it.

 A “tornado warning” means that the weather service has spotted a tornado in the area.
